Wrapping up Criminal Minds

There seems to be a high number of shows finish their seasons in the coming weeks - Nurse Jackie and CSI when completed, next Monday, while Doctor Who mid-season finale airs Thursday. We will come to these shows in a timely manner, but today I want to talk about one of my favorite procedural *: Criminal Minds, which completed its sixth series last night on the One.

(Before you say "oi, my TV Guide says next week is the final" You must understand that the episode last night was the final sixth series episode entitled 6x24 Supply & Demand. Next week's episode is a repeat of 5x18 (The Fight), which itself is a backdoor pilot introducing the cast of Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour , a spinoff starring Forest Whitaker that starts the week after, on July 11. You're welcome.)

Last night's finale was a typical episode of the show - Hotch ( Thomas Gibson ) lucks into a case for his BAU team after a guy crashes his car with two dead bodies in the boot - even if it is unlikely that a guy with two bodies in the boot of his car would be driving so erratically.From there, we meet a few people know a few things about these people, to join another unit of the FBI, storm an abandoned building and we are done. Same old, same old.

Well, except for the cliffhanger ending in DD team member first (AJ Cook) announcing its intention to return to the team less than an hour after Hotch ** has announced that its budget was cut and some one may have to leave. I guess the judges did not have this note. So when Garcia got engaged was all this time, and why did it look like the Lovechild of Drew Carey and Paul Spin City?

The episode was pretty standard for the entire season: stories with a smart talent to enter the spooky territory that most procedural - apart from last night's storyline human trafficking, with a game still intense Russian roulette, the last few weeks have included a few darker episodes of the show was: I really liked the episode with an unsub haunted by visions of schizophrenic whose targets look like victims of a gang fight, and episode two weeks ago with an unsub who targeted his victims with a high photography class teacher, had chills down my spine.

It is a welcome change from the norm "ooh, we found a murder victim, look at the evidence" formula used by the likes of CSI and NCIS (and even the castle, to a degree).

Season 1, Ep 15: The Second Coming of Leonard – When Dharma’s charismatic old boyfriend, Leonard, suddenly re-enters her life after a year in India, Greg finds himself extremely uncomfortable around him, especially when it becomes clear that absolutely everyone else, from Greg’s parents to even Marlene, absolutely adores Leonard. Weakened by battling a bad cold, Greg is thrown for a loop when Leonard reveals that he has been celibate since he left Dharma and Dharma decides that she and Greg should give abstinence a try as well. Finally, Dharma informs everyone that they should respect Greg’s wishes and not see Leonard any more, then everyone simultaneously spots Greg on television enjoying Leonard’s company and his bench-side basketball tickets.
