Empire State of Mind

Following a selective NBA workout schedule that took him to five cities from east coast to west coast, Jimmer Fredette is home again--back in Glens Falls, NY for a few days, before heading downstate to start the next phase of his basketball-playing career.

Fredette spent the weekend in Glens Falls doing things like visiting his soon-to-be-closed elementary school , and according to his Twitter feed , bowling and fishing.

Jimmer's activities this coming week will be much more fast-paced, with he and his family heading to New York City on Monday or Tuesday for gatherings, interviews and NBA-organized media obligations leading up to draft night Thursday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

I will be headed to NYC on Tuesday as well, with Tom Kirkland and I teaming up to provide draft week coverage on KSL TV, KSL Radio, and ksl.com, including reports (with video and audio) on "Cougar Tracks." I'll also keep my Twiter and Facebook feeds hopping, in addition to providing draft night analysis for the Deseret News, once we have found out which team has selected the reigning consensus national player of the year in college basketball.

We anticipate that our pre-draft coverage will include one-on-one interviews with Jimmer Fredette, his family members, his agents, and his college coach Dave Rose, in addition to interviews with Jimmer and other NBA "green room" invitees as part of Wednesday afternoon's scheduled NBA media availability.

Draft rumors are flying right now, with reports and counter-reports covering seemingly every possible eventuality relative to Jimmer's possible landing spots on Thursday night.

The fact the NBA invited Fredette back east to the draft night green room is indicative of his projected lottery status, although Fredette and his family were probably going to be in New Jersey on draft night with or without an invite.

The fact is the NBA had already made Fredette part of its draft night promotional coverage, and he was all but a lock to be invited, even had he not excelled in all of his workouts, which is precisely what transpired, according to sources who say Fredette was "dominant" in all of his sessions.
