First you sheild was set about 5" too high, per the pic. Cruiser Shields are suposed to be set so that you look over them. Unless you spend big bucks on Optically correct lens. But High enough you could duck behind it when needed. With a small shield like that, set that high in addition to the poor vision it was also through alot of buffeting at you, removing it would be an improvement. With or without the shield is more a matter of oipinion than anything else, like helmets or riding clothes. Haven't had a chance to strut it without the shield on the superslab but driving to and from work starting in the 60s in the morning and ending with 80s in the evening I sure do like it without the shield. The first few rides took some getting used to, especially when you get above 50 even in a light wind, 15-20mph. But I have been riding without it or about a month now and wouldn't put it back on unless I was going on quite a longer ride, something more than 100 miles maybe. Plus I really dig the looks of my bike without it. On a flat surface, safely level your bike somewhat. Then sitting on it in normal riding position, (you need a helper from this point on) take a 24" level or a "line" (string) level and hold it under your nose. (This is where the top of the shield should appx. should be.) Have helper hold it level while measuring from the top of the headlight to point of level with a tape measure. This is a good measurement for windshield height. The height is from the headlight cutout to the top of the sheild. In conclusion a good fitted shield is great.
