Promo mailshot for Arsenal away kit features no Cesc, Nasri or Clichy
I received in yesterdays post a merchandise catalogue from Arsenal making sure I was fully aware of the launch of the new away kit. The first thing that hit me, other than the fact that the kit manages somehow to look even less like an Arsenal kit than the white one we had a few seasons ago, was the members of the current first team squad that were not involved in the promo photo shoot for the kit launch.
Was it a surprise for any of us to realise that our current captain was nowhere to be seen? Was it a surprise to see a distinct lack of Gael Clichy? The lack of our current number one left back was further highlighted by the appearance of Kieran Gibbs on the front page. The lack of our team captain was also highlighted by the man likely to be his replacement in the first team for next season - Aaron Ramsey - being splashed across none other than the front page as well.
The new launch has seen the away kit being branded as explosive, but for me the main point that exploded in my mind was the average age of the men on the front cover of the catalogue. They are just about old enough to be served up a pint at your local pub.
At the end of the day, if Cesc wants to leave (and who could really blame him?), then fair enough: let us get the best price possible for him and move on without our current captain. I have not got a bad word to say about him as I do not expect unbridled loyalty from a man that clearly hasnt mentally been at our club since last summer anyway. Is Ramsey the answer in replacing Cesc though? I personally dont think we can rely on a player that nearly had his career ended and has only played a handful of Premier League matches since recovering from that horrific injury. To be honest, from what I have seen of Aaron, even if he was fully fit, he is not an out-and-out replacement for Cesc anyway, and in my eyes it would be a step back to promote our young Welshman as Cescs ideal replacement.
It does remind me of a recent conversation I had with a number of Arsenal regulars, where we were discussing who out of the current squad would we be that bothered about if they did decide to leave the club. The answers to the question were, sadly, few and far between. The highest number anyone had was a three (RVP, TV and Cesc). My answer for, what it is worth, was a big fat zero. I knew Cesc would be leaving anyway and, for me, RVP and TV have clearly both got injury issues which make them both replaceable in my eyes. Samir? Not for me either, as he has had half a good season out of a possible three, and when the going got tougher than good in the second half of last season he seemed to go AWOL.
Eduardo Broken Leg - News
For everything that Eduardo Nunez is, there is also something he is not. He has a cannon arm but is woefully inaccurate. He has great speed but is prone to baserunning mistakes. He has a live bat but can be induced to chase pitches.

Neymar had spent the bulk of the first leg (which finished goalless) to the right of Zé Eduardo, and had been frustrated by the brusque attentions of Peñarol's veteran left-back, Darío Rodríguez. Only when switching and cutting in from the left did he
When Antonio Valencia suffered a broken leg last year the pain was felt way beyond the confines of Salford. Football fans in Quito and Guayaquil gathered to pray for Toño's speedy recovery and it looks as though somebody up there was listening.

Vermaelen isn't injury prone, he has had one single injury since being at Arsenal, that's like saying Ramsey is injury prone when he had his leg broken. Mug! - Post No. 10222 Load of bollox about what Cesc has won not making him a great player.

Arsenal held 2-2 by Birmingham but Eduardo Suffers HORRIFIC Injury ...
I really can’t even post much about the game that ended 2-2 at St.Andrews, Theo Walcott and Mcfadden scored a brace but the talking point was definitely the horrific tackle by Martin Taylor on Eduardo Da Silva.
The Croatian striker was clearly in agony after the tackle from Taylor and his team-mates looked physically ill after the incident which held the game up for eight minutes.
Such was the horrific nature of the injury that Sky television refused to broadcast a replay of the incident until half-time, and even then, they only showed the tackle as it was originally broadcast without any close-ups or slow motion replays.
After the incident an eerie atmosphere surrounded the ground as the Arsenal players struggled to get their heads back into the game.
Taylor was immediately sent-off by referee Mike Dean, but despite playing with an extra man, Arsenal went in at the break 1-0 down after McFadden curled home a free-kick.
However, two goals from Theo Walcott in a five minutes spell just after the break looked like it was going to be enough to put the Gunners eight points clear before Gael Clichy brought down Stuart Parnaby deep into stoppage time.
MY best wishes to Eduardo for a speedy recovery, he didn’t deserve this, as no one does, and it’s a sad thing that he will not play in EURO 2008 for Croatia after all the work he has put in. I have to say that is indeed an horrific injury and my thoughts are with Eduardo as he begins a long journey of recovery. However, I don’t think Taylor deserves to be hunted down for this tackle. I hope you still agree with Mr Wenger who has now retracted his statement. He no longer thinks Taylor should be banned for life. He admits his statement was made in the heat of the moment and he has withdrawn the comment. Taylor is not a dirty player and he will be feeling for Eduardo as much as anyone. Im a Man U fan too. But, frankly speaking. i tot tt tackle doesnt deserve a red. the ref intended a yellow, but looking at the injury, he changed to a red instead. I bet if eduardo jus tumbled, it would b a yellow. but nevertheless, my heart goes to eduardo for his broken feet. i felt emo when i watched it, and despite arsenal is a rival team, this should nt happen to anybody in this world. it is football, jus a game, jus a competetion. i hope eduardo can rise and play again, for arsenal once again. Hope full recovery for eduardo. but for now, we can only wait and hear from e surgeons n physios to give further verdict.
