Earnings per share were 81 cents compared to the Zacks Consensus of 64 cents. The company made just 54 cents in the year ago quarter which did not include the Kaz acquisition.
Sales climbed 55.8% to $237 million from $152 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010. However, the Kaz acquisition added $69 million in the 2-month period ending Feb 28 after the deal was closed in December 2010.
Both of its segments saw sales growth in the quarter. Housewares continued to be hot, climbing 9.1% to $54.6 million as the OXO brand remained strong. Personal Care saw sales rise 11% to $113.3 million.
Zacks Consensus Estimates Rise The fiscal 2012, the company intends to focus on expanding the OXO brand and integrating the Kaz brands. Analysts liked this strategy as estimates continue to rise.
The fiscal 2012 Zacks Consensus Estimate rose to $3.40 from $3.35 in the last 60 days. This is earnings growth of 12.6%.
Analysts are also bullish on fiscal 2013, expecting another 11% earnings growth.
Shares Are Cheap Even though shares are now trading near 3-year highs, they’re still cheap.
In addition to having a P/E under 10, the company also has a price-to-book ratio of 1.4, under the value cut-off I use of 3.0. It’s also under the S&P 500′s average P/B of 3.6.
Additionally, the company has a solid 1-year return on equity (ROE) of 14.7%. Helen of Troy offers attractive earnings growth at a cheap price.
