Keeping kids safe around pools

Water and children are a natural match for the hot summer months. It is important to remember, however, that swimming pools pose serious risks to children. But summer can be relaxing, you can not be complacent when your children are around pools.

But it seems that parents take precautions around pools in soil can relax its guard when it comes to portable swimming pools, including wading pools, inflatable pools and soft-sided, self-rising pools. One problem is that parents may not understand the drowning risks when it comes to wading or inflatable pools.

"Children can drown in very small amounts of water," said Smith. In fact, 209 children drowned in pools portable between 2001 and 2009. During the same period, 35 were seriously injured, the majority of accidents that take place during the summer months usually backyard of the child.

Municipalities that require isolation fencing and other precautions to in-ground pools can not easily enforce the laws for pools portable barrier. Here are some recommendations for protecting your child around the pool, recognizing that nothing will protect your child entirely from drowning hazards: • Don’t allow children to wear dangly necklaces or wear their hair long and loose in or around the pool, to prevent getting entangled in a drain.

The vinyl liner

There are three basic types of swimming pools in soil, concrete or gunite pool, style vinyl liner and fiberglass. He is most often installed in residential applications is the vinyl liner. There are three reasons for this type of pool is selected so often.

The only real disadvantage of vinyl pool liner is the liner. Most of these come with a guarantee of 25 or 30 years, which sounds good at first glance. The warranty is prorated substantially the same as a car tire, resulting in replacements in the early years as being close to the total cost of the liner.

After 7 years, a ship will result in a failed payment of approximately 10% of original cost. This is close to the average lifespan of most vinyl liners.
